Broan Model 512M Through-The-Wall Fan
Eliminate humidity from laundry rooms, tobacco smoke from rec rooms and workshops, or cooking fumes from kitchens with Broan's high-efficiency utility ventilators.This fan can be installed in outside walls from 5-1/4" to 10" thick. Walls less than 6" thick will not use the adjustable duct. Choose a location with no obstructions, such as wall studs, plumbing or electrical wiring.

We installed this fan to exhaust accumulated heat in an upstairs laundry room. It works wonderfully and looks nice, too.

For a novice installer the installation instructions can be misleading. You have to build a box in the wall cavity to mount the fan, the instruction diagram indicates the fan can be mounted to drywall which is not recommended.

[...]fan was nice and compact for bath with limited wall space. except for the rather flimsey metal flange,and extention hose( I did not need to use the extention hose.)The install was fairly easy. Good instructions.I would recommend this unit for a small room.Noise level is tolerable,and it keeps my mirrors from fogging. Good product.

I was worried if this fan had the push to go through the wall turn a 90 degree bend and then push air 6 more feet to the outside. Well it does. It performs very well. A bit loud but it does a great job in our bathroom.

It's not the quietest fan out there, but it's powerful and quick. It's also a nice design.

great for venting a smelly room

Installed in both a kitchen and bathroom where none existed before. Fairly easy to install, but I had to drill and chisel thru exterior brick. Instructions need addressing; 6in hole called for not big enough to get flex pipe through, need 6 1/2inches. Flex pipe not pkgd well, came crumpled and needed straightening.

I've used this model a couple of times. It's an easy install and is quiet enough to keep the client happy.
If venting through brick you may wish you had a 6" coring hole saw.
